Which one suits you depends on how many teeth are involved and the condition of the bone underneath. Your dentist will explain which applies after examining you.
An implant replaces the root, and a crown sits on top. Neighbouring teeth are left alone, which is the main advantage over a bridge.
Where most or all of a jaw is failing, four or more implants can carry a complete fixed arch. This is the All‑on‑4 approach.
Your denture clips onto implants instead of resting on the gum, so it stays put while you eat and speak. Often the least involved option.

We claim with all major Australian health funds. Your rebate depends on your level of cover and your individual policy.

Age on its own is rarely the deciding factor; general health and the bone available matter more. If you have been told previously that you do not have enough bone, techniques such as grafting sometimes change that. The only way to know is an examination with imaging, which is what the complimentary consultation is for.
The placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain at the time. Most patients describe the days afterwards as comparable to having a tooth out, and manage with standard pain relief. Most are comfortable within two to three days.
In most cases no. Where it is clinically suitable, temporary teeth are fitted so you are not left with a gap while the implants integrate with the bone. Your dentist will tell you what applies to your case before you commit to anything.
It varies with the case. A single implant is commonly three to six months from placement to the final crown, because the implant needs time to integrate with the bone. Full‑arch treatment can move faster in the early stages. You will get a timeline for your own treatment in writing.
Implants are intended as a long‑term replacement and many last a great many years. Longevity depends on your oral hygiene, keeping up regular reviews, whether you smoke, and your general health. Like natural teeth, they need looking after.
